Drive to Pandamatenga

Drive to Pandamatenga

After spending a couple of days in Gabarone Botswana, the capital, we headed north for Pandamatenga, a small farming out post. Thank God for a car with airconditioning, It was 116 F at mid day! The sky was immense the land arid yet beautiful and the road brutal. The size and frequency of pot holes was mind boggeling along with bone jarring. It was however worth every second of it once we reached the Nata village area in Magadi Kgdai region.

At first I thought there was a large grey boulder just off the side of the road but when the boulder flapped it's ears I realized I was way wrong. What a rush!!! Within a few miles I had seen anothe 6 elephants. I stopped counting elephants when I hit 50. At one curve in the road I saw  vultures sitting in the few trees just off the road and on the ground. we slowed down to see why and there was a dead elephant or should I say the remains of an elephant. Further down the road there were giraffe, cape buffalo and lots of different gazelle.

Another hour later we reached the "farm Camp", home for the next six months!
